I’m back… Almost!

So I have officially become one of “those brides.” You know, the ones that promise they will blog or post pictures “the day after.” Then reality hits, you go on your honeymoon, and after that you find out you want to be generic and enjoy time with your new hubs.

This post is just to let you know I’m alive {not gonna lie, flattered by the new Love and Sapphire followers! Hi Guys!}

I will be back up to 3 posts a week come Monday and slowly work my way back up to five. Until then, here is a tease of things you have to look forward to {or at least I hope so!} ūüôā Wedding pictures won’t be ready for a few weeks, but we are moving at the end of July so I have a lot of decorating ideas (Either fails or accomplishments, we will soon see) to share here in the mean time. We are moving to an apartment while we save for a house, so my goal is to make the new place look chic and homey, yet realizing Ikea & the thrift store is more reasonable for an apartment.

Now on for a few teaser pictures until the real ones come in. These are from my BFF and her dad. I know I’m biased but they turned out pretty darn good. I literally remember starting to walk down the aisle and seeing so many more people than I thought would come to the ceremony. Therefore, I instantly wanted to say hi to everyone; I was so overwhelmed with emotion. Then I realized that it may not be appropriate so I gathered myself. But I just felt so darn loved, and it was one of the best moments of my life!

20120523-225433.jpg Happiest moment of my life, my dad walking me down the aisle. Words can’t express what this ment for me and to see all our friends and family!

If my dad waking me down the aisle was my happiest moment, I don’t even know what this is! So happy for him to be my hubs and for me to be his wife. The start to a great day and life together! My hubs is my best friend. I’m a lucky lady. ūüôā

And if you think I look happy in this pictures, just take a look at Jacob (the cat) and his brother Buddy. We came home from our honeymoon and Jacob could not be found… he was hiding like cats normally do when there owners come home after a long time away. We then picked up the Bud-man from my in-laws {still love saying that, I don’t know if it will get old} and Jacob came running out… They have been cuddling ever since. Pathetic… But in the cutest way!

See ya next week, lots of fun things to come!

Beer from Lake Bluff Brewery. We didn’t go this weekend; or for the past few weekends… Buuuut this place has the best micro-brews. Makes me never want to move from Lake Bluff. almost. I’d take living closer to Momma Sheila any day over a good beer. No matter how delish. I think I’m just really craving beer since I’m denying myself it until the wedding. Can ya tell?

Marriage license Friday! I told Jonathan’s sister via text after I sent this pic that I hope our photographer can center photos better then myself. ūüėČ

My favorite boys! ‘Nuff said.

Flowers last night to say “happy 12 days til we’re married.” I think I found a keeper. ūüėČ

This covo from this morning that Jonathan started. Cracks me up. I win for creativity though! ūüėČ

What are some of you favorite things as of late?

Monday morn

Even the B-Man wasn’t feeling the time change yesterday morning…

Neither was I, so I started off my day with a large cup of coffee and a large diet coke… and a huge water to balance out all that caffine!

Need you need anything to get you through Mondays, especially after springing forward this weekend?

Productivity Wednesday!

¬†Last night I had a very productive evening. ¬†Usually during the week I am just tempted to sit on my arse and do nothing, while watching quality television like The Bachelor and Real Houewives. But alas I worked on labeling and stamping all the RSVP’s that I mentioned working on in my Monday post.

The design I worked hard on, I used a combination of vector drawing with the touchpad on my MacBook (yeah, the mouse is on its way in the mail after that) and my awesome new drawing tablet.  I really like how they turned out;  I actually love the way they turned out.  Perhaps I could be a little more modest but I worked hard on these babies, gosh darn it!

The bird theme is now tied in throughout our entire invitation suite.

I made them like postcards so this is the front and back.

I was originally going to mail them as postcards but since the size I needed was the smallest size the USPS will mail, I foresaw lots and lots of “lost in the mail” RSVPs. ¬†So I decided to waste the extra postage and go with envelopes.

The address labels I designed and ran through this awesome little machine, called a Xyron. ¬†It’s probably one of my favorite crafting tools to date. ¬†That and my Martha Stewart scissors. ¬†Martha makes everything better!

And these are the address labels for the outside of our invitations.

¬†I designed them this weekend as well. ¬†I will have to make one with some fake information because when I blurred out all the info it kind of looses it’s luster. ¬†They are “wrap around¬†” labels, like the ones on our Save the Dates. ¬†Let me tell you, addressing 86 of these bad boys took a lot longer then I anticipated. ¬†Let’s just say momma needs some coffee this morning!

Do you have any strategies to make sure you are productive during the week, especially on Hump Day (Wednesday)?

Weekend wrap-up

Friday, after work, I picked Jonathan up from the Metra and we went to Yard House for dinner. The food was delish and after many months of coaxing Jon into going he randomly suggested it once he heard from some co-workers how fantastic it is. Plus having over 100 beers on tap never hurts! I knew he would like it and I boy, was I right!

We started with lettuce wraps for an appetizers and they were amazing. For my entr√©e I ordered the “Gardein” Chicken and Rice Bowl. The “chicken” was actually made from soy substitute. The rest of the bowl¬†contained¬†¬†broccoli, bok choy, snap peas, carrots, shiitake, peppers, and baby corn. I have to say it was delicious. They also have a huge section on the menu devoted to Gardien items which makes this place a vegetarian’s dream. (I am not a vegetarian, just not a heavy meat-eater in general.

Jonathan’s choice was lobster pasta (Ew). We have such different taste buds; it is incredible. He likes to try everything while I do not really enjoy trying new foods.

Saturday morning we woke up early and I had to run some errands: like wash my car and make some stops at various craft stores. Before we started on our¬†excursion, I’d thought we would try the¬†restaurant¬†down the road that we having been meaning to go to since they opened up in the fall. I have become pretty good at making healthy selections when eating out; but this weekend demonstrated that I do not always make the best choice; especially when it comes to breakfast. I love breakfast; so it would have been hard impossible for me to order something like oatmeal when there were so many fun options!

Jon and I both ordered the breakfast sandwich, mine with bacon, egg, and american cheese on wheat toast. He chose the same but on a bagel and with sausage. I also decided to order us some French Toast (my favorite breakfast food) because I thought it was just two slices that we could split. I must have read the menu wrong because it was another full meal.

Some cute art on the wall inside the restaurant.

Our breakfast. The sandwiches were good but the French Toast was fantastic.

Cute diner on the outside, right? I drive past this place at least two times a day. So I was happy we finally made it in!

After breakfast, I ran my errands; which included finally finding a dress for our wedding shower that is in two weeks! I’m so happy I finally found something that I like but also feel comfortable in. To be honest, since loosing a lot of weight (6lbs away from 100! Woohoo!) I still feel self-conscious in clothes, especially dresses. Therefore dress shopping for the shower, where I will be the center of attention, was a little daunting; but I managed to find something at last! (I did end up buying and returning 3 other dresses in the process!)

Later, Jonathan had what I like to call a “man date” with his best friend, Mehul. I took this as the perfect opportunity to rent a chick flick (starring Mandy Moore) from Red Box and work on some wedding crafts!

First on my list of tasks? Labels for the wedding invitations! They came out great, and I will be posting the final product in the next week or two.

My Saturday night date: my beloved MacBook accompanied by my new drawing tablet. ūüėÄ What can I say? I like to live on the wild side. After finishing the labels I worked on some wedding projects that I will be revealing later in the week… So stay tuned!

Sunday was great; we invited both of our moms to go with us to our wedding venue to help finalize the menu. I thought that we would be given “a little of this, a little of that” to try, but boy was I wrong! They loaded up with food, which would have been great if I wasn’t worrying about looking fabulous in my wedding dress in a¬†mer¬†68 days. (but who’s counting?) ūüėČ

When I tell people where our reception is the first thing is usually “they have¬†the best¬†food!” I went in thinking that the food is probably good, but it can’t be¬†amazing, it is wedding food after all. Boy was I (happily) wrong! The food was¬†divine, and made us both even more excited for the wedding!

We chose two options of the menu to try, and they gave us four entire platefuls. (Two of each options).  This does not include the canapes and mounds of salad that came before the main course.

The day ended with a quick trip to Wal-Mart for some food staples and returning home to craft while catching up on the new show Alcatraz.

Needless to say, I will be working my booty off at the gym this week after seeing all the delectable food that I consumed this weekend!

How was your weekend? Do anything little different, fun, or exciting?
